Wabash Station
This landmark transportation hub was given fresh life through a design approach that joined environmental and historic preservation.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Wabash Station in Columbia, Missouri, was revitalized to honor its past while facilitating the strong growth of the city’s fixed and paratransit bus systems. The project included: a new dispatch center and administration annex; an expanded lobby featuring public artwork and new restroom facilities; a covered walkway and passenger waiting area; and a restored limestone exterior and refurbished tile roof.

Sustainability efforts focused on:

• Remediating the site’s soil

• Implementing smart building technologies

• Conserving water through landscaping and plumbing solutions

• Diverting 75 percent of construction waste away from landfills

• Creating a healthy and productive workplace environment
